Impoverished Russian librarian Katya (Natalya Negoda) has little going for her except the small profit she makes quietly selling her library's books on the black market -- until the day she meets an upstanding military man who returns her affections. But when Katya's new lover threatens to leave over her illegal dealings, she discovers that he has secrets of his own. This drama from director Aleksei Mizgiryov also stars Dmitri Kulichkov.

This poignant drama follows the tumultuous relationship between a young Russian girl (Polina Pluchek) and her largely absent and wildly promiscuous mother. As the two seesaw between love and abuse, they move toward a terrible confrontation. Vassily Sigarev makes his directorial debut with this film that he loosely based on the real-life experiences of actress Yana Troyanova, who portrays the girl's troubled mother.
